Libby's Best Friend

Libby is quite picky about the company that she keeps. As a result, she does not have many doggie friends. They are either too big, too small, too shy, too aggressive, or too whatever-it-is-that-turns-Princess-Libby-off. The friends she does make though, are instant, like Mu-kun, a five-year-old Border Collie. It was a mutual attraction at first sight and you can feel the chemistry between them.

We ran into Mu-kun today at the cemetary again, and they had their usual little dance before saying goodbye. It's always kept short but full of excitement nonetheless.

Shall we play?

By all means.

Until next time.

(The person lying on the ground in the background is the resident homeless guy in Aoyama cemetary. I always find him in the same spot on sunny days. I wonder where he goes when it rains.)

That is *so* cute! Isn't it a mystery how dogs "choose" each other? Although Edward wants to meet every dog we come upon, his level of excitement always varies, and I can't figure out what it is that makes certain dogs more special than others.

It is a mystery indeed. Libby IGNORES most dogs but is crazy about a very selected few. Jason thinks that her special affection for Border Collies and Golden retrievers is a result of puppyhood experiences (her mom's household has one of each).

Libby is more of a people-dog than a dog-dog. Her affection is devoted almost entirely to humans. I think she considers herself above most dogs ;oP

How sweet... I MUST have a dog one day.
Lynn, I really like your photos and writing, they are great (and make me homesick...)

Oh you must, Keiko! Dogs are the greatest and Libby makes me laugh everyday. You know it's scientifically proven that dog owners live longer and healthier lives!

Hi Lynn - I didn't know that dog owners live longer and healthier lives, how about cat owners? Not that I want to live longer, but I totally agree that they just make you happy and I can't live without them!

Not sure if there are any studies on cat owners but I would think the companionship alone lifts your spirit any day =) But dog owners do have the added advantage of being dragged on walks everyday, making us more active by default. It's a pain on rainy days though.
